GJEPC Registration: Gem and Jewellery Export Council Membership
GJEPC registration is membership of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, which issues the RCMC for gem and jewellery exporters. You register on the council portal, pay a fee based on your turnover, and submit the documents. We prepare the file, pay and follow it up.
What it is
The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) was formed in 1966 to promote India’s gem and jewellery exports. It covers cut diamonds, coloured gemstones, gold and silver jewellery, pearls and similar goods. Membership gets you an RCMC.
Para 2.57(a) of the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 requires an RCMC when you apply for an export authorisation or a benefit under the policy. For jewellery exporters, GJEPC is the council that issues it. If you are unsure which council fits, read our page on RCMC registration.
Who it applies to
Jewellery manufacturers
Picture a Jaipur or Mumbai workshop making studded silver jewellery for buyers abroad. Once it ships under its own IEC, it joins as an exporter.
Diamond and gemstone traders
A Surat firm that polishes diamonds and sells to overseas buyers falls here too, along with traders in coloured stones.
Small and micro exporters
The fee slabs start low for smaller turnover. A micro unit with turnover up to ₹40 lakh pays ₹1,298 with GST and no admission fee, so the cost is small.
Why it matters
RCMC for policy benefits
DGFT looks for it when you apply for an authorisation or a benefit under the Foreign Trade Policy.
Fee follows your size
The council charges by turnover slab, so smaller exporters are not priced like large houses.
Sector body for your trade
The council is the sector body for gems and jewellery, so you register, renew and raise membership queries in one place.

How it works
Register on the council portal
We create your login on gjepc.org as a domestic user and complete the registration details.
Fill in the application, pick the slab
After you receive credentials by email, we complete the associate membership application and choose the correct turnover slab.
Pay through the challan form
We generate the challan and pay by net banking, card or NEFT, with the admission fee where it applies.
Lodge the set, chase the RCMC
We print the application set, lodge it at the head or regional office where needed, answer queries and share the RCMC.
GJEPC fee slabs and admission fee
The council charges an admission fee and a membership fee that rises with your export and domestic turnover. GST at 18% is added on all fees.
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Admission fee (one time) | ₹7,500 plus GST, waived for the micro tier |
| Lowest slab: turnover up to ₹40 lakh | ₹1,298 including GST |
| Highest slab: exports above ₹1,000 crore | ₹2,80,840 including GST |
Here is the catch: the slab depends on your turnover, so picking the wrong one means a short payment or a query. The slabs between these two ends depend on turnover. The council revises them, so we read the current schedule on the portal before you pay. Worked example: a micro exporter with turnover up to ₹40 lakh pays ₹1,100 plus ₹198 GST, which is ₹1,298, and nothing for admission. A larger unit pays the admission fee of ₹7,500 plus ₹1,350 GST on top of its slab fee, so budget for that in year one.
Timelines
Registration
Registration and payment are online. The membership set is lodged at the head or regional office after you print it.
Validity
An RCMC is deemed valid from 1 April of the licensing year for five financial years ending 31 March, as set under DGFT e-RCMC rules.
IEC profile
Keep your IEC profile updated before you apply. The DGFT portal runs the IEC update window from April to June.
What happens if you miss it
RCMC not available
In practice, without an RCMC, authorisation and benefit applications under the policy cannot move forward. A shipment-ready exporter can lose weeks here.
Wrong slab
Choosing the wrong turnover slab invites queries from the council. It can also mean a short payment to make up before the RCMC is issued.
Expired certificate
When the RCMC period ends, renew before you file any new application that needs it. Check the end date on the certificate and diarise it a month ahead.
Frequently asked questions
How do I apply for GJEPC registration?
Open gjepc.org, register as a domestic user, collect your login by email, fill the associate membership application, and pay the fee through the challan form by net banking, card or NEFT. Then print the set and lodge it at the head or regional office. We handle each step and follow up.
What is the GJEPC membership fee?
The council charges an admission fee of ₹7,500 plus GST, waived for the micro tier, and a membership fee by turnover. The lowest slab, turnover up to ₹40 lakh, is ₹1,298 with GST, while the top slab is ₹2,80,840. We read the current schedule before you pay.
Which documents does GJEPC need?
Expect a self-attested IEC, PAN, GST details, a partnership deed or MoU where applicable, and an SSI or MSME certificate for exporters. A digital signature of the authorised signatory is also used. Requirements can be updated on the portal, so we check them before filing.
Is an IEC compulsory for GJEPC membership?
Yes. The application asks for a self-attested copy of your IEC, and your RCMC is tied to it. If you have not got one yet, our import export registration team can arrange it first. The IEC fee is ₹500, and the council application follows.
How long is a GJEPC RCMC valid?
An RCMC issued through the DGFT e-RCMC system is deemed valid from 1 April of the licensing year for five financial years ending 31 March. We note the end date and renew in good time. Check your certificate for the exact period.
Do I need GJEPC registration to export jewellery?
The Foreign Trade Policy requires an RCMC for authorisations and benefits, not for every shipment. If you want those benefits, GJEPC is the council for jewellery. If you only export occasionally without any benefit, talk to us first before paying any fee.
Can a micro exporter join GJEPC cheaply?
Yes. The council has a micro tier with the lowest slab, ₹1,298 including GST for turnover up to ₹40 lakh, and the admission fee is waived for micro members. Keep your Udyam certificate ready. Our Udyam registration service covers a missing one.
What is the difference between domestic and international registration?
The council portal has separate registration tabs. The domestic user registration is for Indian companies, while the international user registration is for overseas applicants. An Indian exporter chooses domestic. We choose the right tab and complete it, so your file starts correctly.
What it costs
Our fee plus the government fee that applies to your case, quoted before you commit. Tell us the situation and we will price it exactly.
Council fees depend on your turnover slab and are shown in the table above, with 18% GST on top.
Ready to begin?
Share your turnover and what you export, and we will confirm the GJEPC slab, the fee and the documents needed.
