GST Registration in Ballabgarh

Grain traders, job workers and small manufacturers in Ballabgarh all ask us the same thing: do I need GST yet? The answer depends on what you sell and where it goes, not just on turnover. You apply on the GST portal, and the file is handled by a Faridabad ward of the Haryana Excise and Taxation Department. Our main GST registration page has the national process.

What it is

GST registration gives your business a GSTIN, the 15-character number that lets you collect GST on invoices, take input tax credit on purchases and generate e-way bills. A Ballabgarh GSTIN begins with 06, Haryana’s state code, and carries your PAN inside it.

Registration is governed by Sections 22 to 25 of the CGST Act, 2017 and the matching provisions of the Haryana GST Act, 2017. Ballabgarh applications land with a ward in one of the four Faridabad zones of the Excise and Taxation Department. Some taxpayers go to CGST Faridabad instead. The portal decides, not you.

Who it applies to

Job workers for bigger units

A plating, machining or fabrication shop near Sector 58 or 59 working on material a manufacturer sends in. Job work is a service, so the ₹20 lakh limit applies.

Traders in the bazaar and mandi

Goods traders register above ₹40 lakh a year. Deal only in wholly exempt goods, such as loose unprocessed grain, and Section 23 says you need not register at all.

Anyone selling outside Haryana

Dispatching parts to a buyer in Uttar Pradesh or Rajasthan is an inter-state supply of goods. Section 24 requires a GSTIN before the very first such invoice, however small the business.

Mandi, job work and exempt goods: when you must register

Your situationRegister?Why
Trader selling only wholly exempt goodsNoSection 23(1)(a) excludes them
Same trader adds a taxable lineYes, once aggregate turnover crosses ₹40 lakhExempt sales count in aggregate turnover under Section 2(6)
Job worker for a Sector 59 unitYes, above ₹20 lakhJob work is a supply of services
Any goods sold to another stateYes, from day oneCompulsory under Section 24

Here is the catch, and it sits in the second row. Say a family near the Anaj Mandi has sold loose grain for years and then starts stocking a taxable line. From that day, the old exempt sales count toward ₹40 lakh too.

How it works

1

Confirm you need it

We study your sales and buyers and say it plainly: compulsory, optional, or not yet.

2

Pick the right route

Normal registration, or Rule 14A if the tax on your B2B sales stays within ₹2.5 lakh a month.

3

File REG-01 and authenticate

We file on the GST portal and you complete the Aadhaar OTP. Where the portal asks for biometrics, you pick a slot at the GST Suvidha Kendra, Sector 12.

4

Close the officer’s queries

Any query in REG-03 gets a reply from us in REG-04, and we keep at the ward office until the GSTIN is granted.

Timelines

Apply within 30 days

Section 25(1) gives you 30 days from the date registration first becomes compulsory for you.

Answer a query in 7 working days

The officer’s REG-03 query needs a REG-04 reply inside seven working days; miss it and the application can be rejected.

First returns

GSTR-1 by the 11th and GSTR-3B by the 20th for monthly filers; Haryana’s quarterly QRMP filers file GSTR-3B by the 24th after the quarter.

What happens if you trade unregistered

Tax from your own pocket

The tax you never collected still has to be paid, out of your margin, with Section 50 interest at 18% a year.

A penalty on top

Section 122 adds a penalty equal to the tax evaded, or ₹10,000 if that is more.

Buyers walk away

Factories cannot claim credit on an unregistered supplier’s bill, and a truck without an e-way bill can be stopped and held.

Frequently asked questions

Does a mandi trader in Ballabgarh need GST registration?

Not if every sale is of wholly exempt goods, such as loose unprocessed grain, because Section 23 exempts such persons from registering. Once you add a taxable item, your aggregate turnover, including the exempt sales, is tested against the ₹40 lakh limit for goods. We review a full year of sales and tell you exactly where you stand.

I do job work for a factory in Sector 59. When do I need GST?

You must register once your turnover from job work crosses ₹20 lakh in a year, because job work is a service. Most principals want a GSTIN from the start, so registering early often pays. If you also sell your own goods outside Haryana, registration is needed from the first such sale.

Where do I go for biometric verification?

The GST Suvidha Kendra for Ballabgarh applicants is in the Excise and Taxation building behind the District Court, Sector 12, Faridabad 121007. It serves all four Faridabad zones, which covers Ballabgarh. Only applicants flagged by the portal are called. Take your original PAN and Aadhaar and the same papers you uploaded; the appointment is booked through the link in the portal’s message.

Can I register at our family house in a Ballabgarh village?

Yes, as long as the business genuinely runs from the house. The proof is a recent electricity bill or house tax receipt together with a consent letter from the family member who owns the house. If stock is kept in a separate godown or unit, list it on the same GSTIN as an additional place of business.

How quickly will I get my GSTIN?

With successful Aadhaar authentication and no query, the normal route takes up to 7 working days. A site inspection or biometric step can push that to 30 days. Small B2B suppliers who qualify under Rule 14A are approved within 3 working days. Papers that match each other are what keep it quick.

Does the government charge anything for a GSTIN?

No. Registration is free on the GST portal under both the normal route and Rule 14A. What you spend is our professional fee and, if the applicant is a company or LLP, a DSC; a proprietor or partnership can sign by Aadhaar OTP instead. Our quote includes the filing, any query replies and support for a biometric appointment.

Can I register voluntarily below the limit?

Yes, Section 25(3) lets you register even if your turnover is below the limit. You can then issue tax invoices and claim input tax credit, which registered factory buyers value. The trade-off is that you must file GST returns every month or quarter, even nil returns, so we weigh both sides before you apply.

Do I need to visit your office?

No. Papers can travel by WhatsApp and the form is signed by OTP, so most clients never come in. If you prefer to meet, our office is at B-363-365, Second Floor, BK Chowk, Faridabad, Haryana 121001, a short drive from Ballabgarh. It is open 24 hours, so an evening visit after the mandi or shop shuts is fine.
