Agent and Commission Management for Daily Collection
Agent commission software for pigmy and daily collection takes a monthly job that usually eats two evenings and turns it into a report. In many societies the commission sheet is still built by hand, from a diary, with arguments at the end of the month. This guide shows what a commission feature should do, how a manager uses it, and what to ask in a demo.

What the feature is
A daily collection agent walks a route, takes small amounts from shopkeepers and members, and brings the money to the office. The society pays that agent for the work, usually by commission. Agent and commission management keeps three things together: who the agent is, which accounts are on their route, and what they have earned.
A good system should hold the agent as a proper record, link each pigmy or deposit account to an agent, and calculate commission from posted collections using the rule you set. It should also show a statement per agent, so there is no need for a diary. For the basics of the scheme itself, read daily collection and pigmy deposit software.
The Taxhint credit and thrift society management software page lists a collection app, a user app, user rights and activity logs. It does not list agent commission as a separate module, so treat commission handling as something to see in a demo, not something to assume. The wider picture is in the buyer’s guide to loan and society software.
How to use it
This is how an office normally runs it once the rule is fixed.
- The manager creates each agent with a code and, where the system allows, a route or area, and links the agent’s accounts.
- The board or owner fixes the commission rule: a percentage of collection, a slab, or a fixed amount. Put it in writing first.
- Every day the agent collects, enters receipts on the phone through the mobile collection app, and hands cash to the cashier.
- The cashier matches the cash with the agent’s total for the day and posts it. Commission is counted only on posted amounts.
- At month end the manager opens the agent statement, checks it against the day-wise collection, and approves it.
- The accountant books the commission and any deduction your CA advises, and pays the agent.
How it helps the business
The agent gets a clear statement, and the office stops arguing over a diary. Everyone can open the same figures, which cuts the usual month-end dispute about what was collected on which day.
It also protects the society. When commission is tied to posted collections, an agent cannot be paid for money that never reached the counter. If a receipt is cancelled, the commission on it can be corrected in the same record.
The numbers to watch are commission as a share of collection for each agent, the gap between collection entered and cash deposited at the end of the day, and accounts that have no collection for several days. Those show you which routes are doing well and which are slipping. For targets and bonuses on top of commission, see staff targets, incentives and performance dashboards.
Common mistakes
- Keeping the commission rule only in someone’s head. When that person leaves, the rule leaves too. Write it down and set it in the system.
- Paying on collected, not deposited, amounts. An agent who holds cash for a week should not earn on it.
- Letting agents share one login. You then cannot tell whose receipt is whose.
- Ignoring reversals. A cancelled receipt with its commission untouched creates small leaks that add up.
- Forgetting the tax side. Whether TDS or other deductions apply on commission is a question for your CA under current rules.
What to check in a demo
- Can you create an agent and link accounts to them without a spreadsheet?
- Can you set a percentage and a slab rule, or only one fixed method?
- Does a cancelled receipt change the agent’s commission?
- Is there a per-agent statement you can print and sign?
- Can an agent see only their own accounts in the app?
- Does the activity log show who changed a commission rate?
Ask the vendor to run your own rule on sample data. If your rule needs a custom report, ask what it takes to get it.

FAQs
How is agent commission usually calculated in pigmy collection?
It is commonly a percentage of the amount collected, sometimes with a fixed part or a slab, but each society sets its own terms. Check your bye-laws, board decision and your CA before fixing the structure.
Does Taxhint software calculate agent commission?
The society software page lists a collection app and user rights, but does not list a commission module as such. Ask us in a demo to see how your own commission rule can be handled.
Should commission be paid on collection or on deposit posted?
Paying on amounts that are posted and reconciled is safer. Money that is collected but not yet deposited with the office should not earn commission yet.
What happens if an agent’s collection is later reversed?
The commission should be reversed with it, and the entry should show the reason. A good system links the commission line to the original receipt.
