Form I for MSCS Registration: How to Fill It

Form I is the application for registering a Multi-State Co-operative Society under the 2002 Act. It is short, but every field is read against the rest of your file. Here is what it asks, how to answer it well and what has to go with it.

In this guide

What Form I asks for

PartWhat you provide
Society detailsProposed name, headquarters address, area of operations and main objects
JustificationWhy it is absolutely necessary for the society to be registered under the Multi-State Co-operative Societies Act, 2002
CertificatesThree certificates confirming compliance with specific clauses of Section 7
Member compositionIf all members are individuals, the number of persons from each state signing the application
CorrespondenceName and address for communication
Applicant tableName, age, nationality, profession, state, address, share capital subscription and signature of each applicant

Writing the justification

This is the one free-text answer on the form. Say plainly where your members live, what they need the society for, and why a single state’s law cannot serve them. Tie it to Section 5: main objects serving members in more than one state, with bye-laws promoting self-help and mutual aid.

The applicant table

  • One row per applicant, each signed.
  • States must match the ID and address proofs.
  • Share subscriptions should add up to the amount in the bank certificate.
  • Counts per state must meet the minimum under Section 6.

What to enclose

The form calls for the bank certificate showing a credit balance in the society’s name, the viability scheme, signed bye-laws, and authorisation documents for the signatories to accept bye-law changes. Credit, thrift and multi-purpose societies add NOCs and the credential verification certificate. See the full document checklist.

Submission

The CRCS form page describes submission by registered post or hand delivery to the Central Registrar’s office in New Delhi. Applications are now made through the CRCS portal, so use the portal as the main route and check what it asks you to upload.

Common mistakes

  • A one-line justification that says nothing.
  • Mismatched names or states between the form and ID proofs.
  • Missing signatures in the applicant table.
  • Share totals that do not match the bank certificate.
